MECHANICAL

  • Trained members in SolidWorks and Fusion 360

  • Taught manufacturing methods and how to read engineering design drawings

  • Revised and designed new structural components for the AUV that were added to frame and hull including a new custom fit bottom panel

  • New Encaps designed and manufactured to allow for internally mounting the new stereo vision camera

  • Midcap interchangeable panels were added in order to increase functionality

  • A maneuvering arm and dropper were designed to attach to the main body of the vehicle to help with task completion

ELECTRICAL

  • Addition of a Jetson TX2 as our new main computer

  • Fuses for all ESC and various other components as needed for precautionary safety measures

  • A custom PCB was designed for all ESC functions

  • Upgraded watertight killswitch and mission switch

  • Higher voltage batteries and battery monitor components added

  • Teensey micro controller and custom shield was added for sensor integration

  • A separate hydrophone subsystem was designed that includes Aquarian H2A hydrophones

PROGRAMMING

  • Taught incoming members how to use and implement programs such as Python, C++ and Open CV

  • ROS system integration

  • Machine learning algorithms for object detection

  • Implemented processes for image processing and motion control in order to correctly identify and complete competition tasks
